All about the Pushkar Camel Fair :: Photography Tour.

“Pushkar Camel Fair “ is an annual five-day camel and livestock fair held in the town of Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the world’s largest camel fairs!!

Apart from the buying and selling of livestock, it has competitions such as the “Matka phod”, “longest mustache”, and “bridal competition”.

Thousands of people from rural Rajasthan, go to the banks of the Pushkar Lake where the fair takes place. Men buy and sell their livestock, which includes camels, cows, sheep, and goats, whereas the women go to the stalls in the market, full of sparkling new jewelry, vibrant color clothes, textiles, and fabrics. A camel race starts off the festival, with traditional music and folk songs!

Vibrant, animated, and full of life… are the perfect words to describe the streets of Pushkar Town. The main street aka the market road that runs along the bank of the famous Pushkar Lake.

These streets are flooded with loads of devotees who come to the famous Brahma temple.
Stalls of mouth-watering Mithais ( sweets ), tempting snacks & beverages; also many household accessories, traditional clothes, bling jewelry create a whole different scenario during evening time. “Malpua-Rabdi” the Sweet specialty, Fuming hot “Kadhi- Pakode” for breakfast, “ Daal-baati-Churma” with extra ghee for lunch, Refreshing “shikanji” or “Gulkand Lassi” in the afternoon, “Ker-Sangri” with Bajra roti for dinner and finally a glass of warm milk to end the day in the markets of Pushkar.

Any Indian festive gatherings are a paradise for portrait and people photography.
Portraying any person is basically showing the personality and emotions from any person’s actions or expressions. Every posture, style or walking or sitting, expressions, conversations, attire, and appearance are the highlights to capture fine storytelling portraits.
